che trasforma Venezia in un mondo magico
Exhibition thought specifically for spaces of Punta della Dogana, Prima Materia (First Matter) brings togheter eighty works of international artists, all fit into the Pinault Collection.
Inaugurated on the occasion of the 55th Biennale of Art, the exhibition examines works from the sixties to today, through a double linguistic and aesthetics survey. Half a century of history and creative experimentation and intellectuals, trying to create a dialogue between movements and individual artists of contemporary background.
Starting from the art of the late twentieth tends toward a coexistence of extremes – of abstraction and surrealism, emptiness and chaos, negation and spectacle – through four basic elements of painting, sculpture, installation, and performance.
This is all alchemized by the prima material of media, not only the substance or film or video or the Internet, but it means by which it is disseminated and discussed globally. A medium, the first matter, from which spring plurality of forms and that carries all of the elements are diverse by cultural perspective or personal identity.
