The first permanent perfume exhibition path is going to open in Venice. It will be the first Italian museum in which paired a work of art, you will naturally close your eyes.
The Palazzo Mocenigo Museum is going to host from June 1st a permanent section dedicated to perfume, thanks to the partnership with the Venetian company Mavive. The initiative born with the aim of revaluing the thousand-year old Venetian vocation on scent bottle tradition.
Palazzo Mocenigo is yet venue of the Study Center on textile and costume history and it will perfectly integrate with the new area dedicated entirely to the history of perfume and essences. In addition to the new exhibition opening, June 1st the entire museum is going to regain its original historic and ecovative vigour thanks to a new layout that will further develop the features the rooms themselves.
So within this restored space, it will be possible also to enjoy a new area dedicated entirely to the history of perfume and essences, which will be arranged by MAVIVE, the principal partner in this exciting operation geared to the revival and promotion of the museum venue. In this way, MAVIVE will underscore the historic link between Venice and perfume, adding “olfactive waypoints” along the museum layout to offer a new way to explore the history of perfume and essences. Among that the precious cosmetic textbook I Notandissimi Secreti de l’Arte Profumatoria (G. Rossetti, Venezia 1555), first Western recipe book that classifies with scientific approach more than 300 cosmetic formulas. To enrich the exhibition there will be also the Storps’s bottles collection (one of the most important with over of 2.500 objects date from 2.000 B.C.).
