We were satisfied about the hotel and breakfast. We ordered and paid for a room Deluxe. However, we were surprised to receive a room rather small in comparison to the rooms next to room on the same floor (we stayed in room 503) …

Marvelous, as always. Already looking forward to our return for the next Biennale. Perhaps then I will achieve my goal of tasting each of the fresh cakes, pastries and coffees you offer at breakfast... not to mention the fresh fruits. Perfect before a hard day's walking around Venice.

Giulia at the front desk was WONDERFUL!!!! She was very welcoming and helpful. Her service alone would make us want to return to this hotel. The wait staff in the restaurant was much less friendly and helpful, sufficient but nothing special. We really loved this hotel and our overall experience. The internet access, the welcome message on the TV upon entering our room, the clean up of the room while we were at breakfast and the kindness of Giulia were our favourite aspects of this hotel, we loved it!

We loved our stay at Hotel Sant-Elena (our second visit to the hotel), and will certainly return again. My only small recommendation: wireless Internet access in rooms would be nice. Due to a technical problem with my computer, I couldn't use cable, and had to come down to the lobby every time I wanted to use Internet.

The overall stay was very pleasant - I actually preferred the location than staying within San Marco sqr area. I think "quality for money" wise the hotel and the area is much better with a quick 3-stop vaporetto ride to the main sqr. or otherwise a 20 min. walk.

I loved my stay at your hotel, I think the location is great, because is not just right next to the busy places as Piazza San Marco, so you can rest peacefully every time you want to, but at the same time you can easily get there. The cleaning was absolutely great. The room was very good as well; the only thing I would replace is the carpet, that looks a little bit old. Regarding the breakfast, all the items served were from excellent quality, but (being a little “picky”), I would add some variety of cheeses - as there are a lot of wonderful Italian cheeses!

Our family enjoyed the Hotel St. Elena soooo much!!! We have stayed before near St. Marks Square and will never do so again! We loved the surroundings of the hotel, the size of the rooms, the staff and the breakfast was amazing--loved sitting outside to eat. We enjoyed so much walking around the neighborhood of the hotel --a real special place! The 20 minute walk into The busy area was beautiful and we didn't even use our 24 hour vaporetto ticket as we enjoyed the walk so much. Haven't stopped talking about it--have recommended it already and will keep doing so! Can't wait to come back!

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Sant'Elena. The hotel was outstanding. The rooms were very modern and large. The staff were very friendly and helpful. the staff is not interessted to help their guests. you have to ask for everything and if you don´t ask the service is poor. breakfirst: if you don´t ask for cappucino you will get very poor coffee on a warm plate. no service at the table. roomservice. in the room are different coffee and teas. if you use coffee you don´t get it new, you get more tea...??? if you pass reception they don´t stop to work with pc or talking to eachother. they don´t give you a good and welcome feeling overthere.

This Hotel was a very good choice. It is a little further away from San Marco and other tourist 'sights' but that is the secret to its charm. It is right on the door step to a vaporetto stop and is only a few minutes walk into San Marco Square, but is in a delightfully green and leafy residential area. It is next to a park that is a great place to sit back and relax away from the tourist hoards and watch the locals go about their day - walking the dog, playing a game of soccer, sharing the latest gossip, watching the children play. Here you get to see the real Venice as well as the tourist Venice. The hotel itself was also excellent. It was fresh, clean and comfortable. There was a good selection at breakfast and the staff were efficient and helpful. Overall, good value for money. When I return to Venice I will not hesitate to stay here again.

We loved your hotel and the staff. The location was nice it put you right in with the local venentians and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists. One downside was your restaurant dinner menu had no selection. We did not eat dinner there once and there was nothing for a small snack. Breakfast was wonderful, a great selection of food for everyone. Matta one of your breakfast staff was excellent. He always greeted us with a smile and he remembered our espresso macciatos each and every morning. He was very helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay at your hotel again and will recommend it to our friends and family. We absolutely loved venice what a wonderful place

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at the excellent Sant'Elena. All of the staff were both friendly and helpful. Our room(a jnr suite) was both spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet had an excellent choice and the breakfast room had lovely views of the garden. Very well located, a slow amble of 15-20 mins to St Mark's Square. 2 mins to the vaporetto stop. 6 mins and 1 stop to the Lido, which has an excellent choice of bars and restaurants. All in all, a fabulous long weekend. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Everything was nearly perfect und this hotel can strongly be recommended to everybody who likes to stay in Venice in a very comfortable hotel but in quiet area. Access to the vaporetti is around the door for reaching all interesting places easily and fast. Further it's also possible to do walk by feet to San Marco plaza in app. 20 minutes. We've enjoyed the stay and would come to this hotel again if to Venice again. Service fine and excellent breakfast. By the way, a cozy pizza restaurant for locals ( no tourists ! ) around the door with perfect and traditional italian pizza food there.

Some of the female staff were very rude (the older lady was extremly pleasant) but the others were very unapproachable and our first impression was that they were Very rude. We had dinner in the resturant and had to ask were the member of staff was even though we had reserved a table, although there was no need as it was very quiet, there was no music in the resturant which obviously equal zero atmosphere such simple things would make it so much nicer. the food was good nothing to write home about. the room was a junior suite it was a nice size but nothing else special about the room at all, if i had paid full price for this stay i would have been extremly dissapointed with the room indeed. overall i didnt have any major complaints and it was good but not an expcetional 4 star hotel.

Stayed for three nights in February 2009. We stayed in a junior suite. The bedroom and it's ajoining room were very clean with very good views from the corner room. We were a little concerned that we would be staying in a rather quiet part of Venice. However there was no need to worry as we purchased a 72 hour tourist card which gave us unlimited access to the water transport system. The water bus station of Sant'Elena is only 2 minutes from the hotel and is ideal for visiting the Lido or the island of Murano. The decor of the hotel and the quality of the food are of a high standard. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice. George Clark

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and well suited and clean. The breakfast was fantastic. The reality of the hotel does not correspond to the web site about the distance from center of historical city. We thought it was 15 minutes walk, but in reality it is 25 minutes walk, and 10 minutes by vaporetto.

Our stay was very pleasant, and the hotel is excellent value. It can be hard to find at night.... but that goes for all Venice hotels. Would definitely recomment for young couples and families.

We would like to thank all the staff at Hotel Sant' Elena for making our stay a memorable one. We spent 7 nights in November 2008 and stayed in a junior suite which overlooked the beautiful hotel garden. The room was modern, clean and quite large compared to other hotels in venice. The breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay in this hotel should we ever return to venice!

We heard of your hotel via an offer from Travel Zoo, we were more than delighted by our choice. We thought the hotel was in an excellent location as we could just walk into St Marks Square. The Staff could not have been more helpful. It is the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in. The food was very good, again with excellent service. We would, and have, recommended the hotel on our return. And yes we would like to return ourselves.

This was a beautiful facility, off the beaten path of the hubbub of Venice, and a quiet alternative to the more centrally-located hotels in Venice. We would definitely recommend this property to others. My only complaint was the access to the Internet, which was unreliable, slow, and often gave no warning before expiring, so that, on several occasions, after composing an e-mail, it was lost without the ability to recoup it. It was not reliable, and was incredibly slow. Further, as an American traveler unfamiliar with European keyboards, I spent a great deal of time trying to find the correct letters on the keyboard, which used up time on the allotment quickly. The breakfasts were delicious -- atypical of the croissant and cappuccino we received at other B&B hotels in Italy, and included a full array of breakfast options. We did not eat at the dining room, but the food on the menu looked delicious. This was a great find, and the directions from the train station to the hotel via the water taxi were perfect.

The room was very hot, and the air conditioning had been turned off. I didn't really appreciate the front desk staff laughing at me when I asked about it. Opening the window resulted in my wife getting bitten several times by insects.

Hotel was recommended by a colleague and it lived up to expectations. Quiet residential location, away from the buzz which was nice, but only 20 minutes walk from St Marks Square or 5 minutes by vaporetto. Lovely large room very well appointed. Did not use restaurant in evening but breakfast was excellent especially if taken in the conservatory in the garden which was lovely. Hope to return to Venice in the next year or two and would re-book Sant'Elena without hesitation.

We stayed at Hotel Sant'Elena for 2 nights. At first I thought it was a little too far from the centre of Venice but later decided that the walk along the canal was an excellent way of seeing things that I would have not seen if I was in the centre. It was also good to get away from the tourist crowds and into a quiet area. The park near the Hotel is lovely and the Hotel is so close to the vaporetto, although we mostly walked to Piazza San Marco. We had to catch the vaporetto to Piazzale Roma on our last day to board the shuttle bus that took us to our cruise ship, Costa, and there were no problems walking to the Sant'Elena stop with our luggage - it was very close. Thank you for a delightful stay.

The Hotel is difficult to find from the waterbus stop there is one small sign pointing straight ahead the path then forks off left and right. We arrived late at night it was dark and there was nobody to ask directions from. We found the hotel by accident. On arrival the reception staff were less than helpful when we asked if we could get a meal or room service. Why does a four star hotel close it's kitchen on a Saturday evening?? We found this very odd. When we asked if there was anywhere nearby we could eat we were told to go to the Lido or the centre of Venice, as it was almost 11pm and we had been travelling since early afternoon we decided to go to bed and eat the next day. When we got to our room we found the air conditioning was not working as it was a mild evening and quite warm I phoned reception to ask if the air con was faulty or just switched off, I was told it didn't work and the soloution was to open the window!!! I also asked if it was possible to move to a smoking room as at no time during the booking or arrival stage were we asked our preference?? I was told this was not possible as the hotel was fully booked, this was blatently untrue as there were many rooms not in use as I found out later. Not a very good start to our stay especially as we were celebrating out 25th wedding anniversary! To be honest if we had not already paid for our room and the fee was non refundable we would have moved hotel the very next day such was our disappointment.

Dear Mr. Tuffley,

First of all we would like to thank you for your comment. We are deeply sorry for not reached your expectations; we strive to ensure all our guest a satisfying experience.

From waterbus stop to hotel there are different signs pointing that can help our guest to reach the Hotel Sant'Elena. It's difficult found a restaurant open after 11.00pm except any on centre of Venice or Lido like the staff propose you. Our restaurant remained open (according fixed hour 07.30pm - 10.30pm) with closing Sunday, but we can offer a fast meal service at bar if required by our guest. During your stay the hotel had only two single rooms available and it was not been possible give other rooms. Thanking you for your help and comments, we remain at your complete disposal.

A fantastic hotel in a nice quiet part of Venice. The only complaint I have is about the bed. It was a huge mattress but it was one of those that is joined together. The join was very hard and unconfortable. We might as well have stayed in two separate single beds. This wasn't very romantic for our honeymoon! Other than that this is a superb hotel and would highly recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised by the location, especially when the court yards and area near the vaporetta came alive on the Monday (we arrived on a Sunday and it was very quiet!). The room and hotel were absolutely fine. We were happy with our stay although it didn't feel like a four star hotel - a very nice three star, perhaps. The location turned out to be perfect, and the front desk advice on our arrival was great. We enjoyed a nice meal and help orienting ourselves. I would recommend the hotel and the ease of access from all areas of Venice. The breakfast was fine, but again the quality wasn't quite a four star. Having said that, it was included with the price which was much less than our four star in Verona (which didn't include breakfast).

Overall expereince was disappointing as feel the website sells the hotel, actual reality is quite different. On arrival at the hotel at 11pm on Friday the bar was shutting down and there was no comfortable area to sit in and no food to eat. It was made quite clear that the guys working on the bar wanted to shut the bar asap and we were not made to feel welcome in this respect. All this would be ok but there was nowhere in the area to eat or have a drink so think it important for the hotel to offer a more complete service. The card system for the rooms is poor as the light go off in the room after a short while if the card isn't inserted properly and this happened on a number of occasions and is fundamentally dangerous and needs reviewing asap. Never experienced this problem before. The hotel has a nice garden area but is not set up to cater for those who actually want to sit in it or have a drink! This needs reviewing. On Sunday everything seems to shut down completely and we couldn't get a drink/refreshments all day in the bar! Ridiculous. Reception staff and cleanliness of rooms all good though having said all the above.

Dear Ms. Woodward,

First of all we would like to thank you for your comment. It’s our end to ensure a positive correspondence between our web site and the reality. Our door locking system fully respects the Italian law, which gives detailed instructions about Hotel security and locking system. The restaurant remained open (according fixed hours 07.30pm & 10.30pm) with closing Sunday and after a internal control the bar closed at 12.00pm. We hope your doubts have been now clarified.

Thanking you for your help and comments, we remain at your complete disposal.
