Venice Film Festival 2018, a 75-year history
The first edition of the festival took place on August 6, 1932: a completely different event from what we know today because there was no competition nor related awards.
During its history, the festival was marked by some significant phases: in the '40s, with the neorealist movement, in the '60s with the contestations, up to 1979, the year in which the event became as we know it today.
Competitors and Guests
During the press conference to be held in late July, Alberto Barbera will announce the films in competition, highlighting the various threads of the festival.
The selection of the competitors has the aim to consolidate and improve the quality of the event year after year.
Surely, one of the greatest entertainment is to see the guests on the red carpet and comment on their looks.
Anyway, at the moment it is still too early to talk about guests, but the list of invitations will soon be delineated and hence our hope is to see interesting names belonging to the international cinematographic and cultural scene, which will wander in our beloved Venice.
Dates and Tickets
Venice Film Festival takes place every year between August and September, in fact there will be the traditional opening ceremony on Wednesday 29th August and on Saturday 8th September the closing ceremony with the awaited delivery of the ambitious Golden Lions.
The festival is not addressed only to professionals, in fact all film passionates can participate to film projections by purchasing tickets at the ticket offices of the Venice Biennale, or through online presale from 10th August.
